Greetings from Vancouver! If I ever make it to Victoria on a Sunday afternoon ... I WILL attend. Drawn in by your travel report and the horse/human collages (I am a horse/human, that's why).
I’m glad you got to come to San Fran unmolested! I often think the same thing of living here. How can we all be going about our day knowing none of us are safe and anyone I love could literally be disappeared at any second. And on some level I still cannot believe I am typing this and it’s actually true. Ugh
Yes, it's all so strange, not to mention HORRIFIC. I can't remember what part of the country you're in, but I imagine that must make a difference in terms of what you'd be made to feel day to day. STAY SAFE!
Thanks. I’m in Virginia in the middle of a MAGA red zone as an out queer woman who is known for running the first area diversity center some years back so no way to hide any of that. So no feeling safe for me and mine anytime soon.
Oh shit. I will say again then, please do stay safe. Empty fucking words, I know. The whole world is watching this bullshit unfold and it feels unreal. I will be thinking of you is basically what I can offer 😭
And it’s enough as it’s all a friend can do for me right now. We continue to fight in every way possible from giving money to showing up and resisting. Also all I can do which does not feel like nearly enough either. I’m very grateful to have all the friends sending me good juju as possible. 🙏🏻❤️
Thanks for the update Betty Ann. We may be going to the US in August but I am hopeful things get better by then??? I love collage for all the reasons you mention. I making a lot of collages; small and large. I hope you get folks signing up for the workshops so they can see how much fun it is!
I have a good group for the first collage workshop---though there's a few more spots that could be filled---and the later two dates already have a few sign-ups. I'll have to keep plugging away at it if I want it to be a thing!
Things will definitely not be better in the US by August. That doesn't mean that anything bad will happen to you if you go, but better you go with open eyes! Along with feeling anxious about going there, we also felt guilty because there's so much pressure to stay away from the States. But we had our reasons, as I'm sure many others do.
Haha---I'm not too surprised you never thought of claws when looking at magnolia buds. Definitely not the first thing most people would think. Thank you for your comment!
Hilma af Klint is incredible and so underrated
True dat!

Hi Horse/human! Thank you for your comment. But don't come on a Sunday, because the workshops are on Saturday! But do come! That would be grand.
Oooops—noted!
Looking forward to the workshop!
Me also! Thanks Pamela 😊
Love your collage (and writing). I clicked the link to the workshop and may be able to attend this summer when I am in Victoria. :)
Amazing! And thanks!
Wish I could attend the collage workshops!
It might be a bit of a commute…

Claws!!! I can't unsee that! How did it never occur to me?
Glad to hear your trip went smoothly. Yes, quite the disconnect these days.
